Therapies offered

Humanistic

The humanistic approach centres on authenticity and cultivating a genuine connection through respect, understanding and empathy to promote healing. By prioritising connection, I aim to create a safe and supportive space where you can embark on a journey of self-discovery and growth. This approach recognises that through authenticity, you will feel more secure in exploring your feelings and experiences. My goal is not only to guide, but also to listen and empathise, allowing you to navigate your way through difficulties and traumas towards a more fulfilling life.

CBT

CBT is a skills-based, goal-oriented therapeutic approach that focuses on identifying and changing negative thoughts, feelings and behaviours. It challenges unhelpful thought patterns to develop more adaptive coping strategies. This therapy offers a much more targeted and directive approach than other types of therapy. My primary CBT technique is REBT, a type of therapy that works to illustrate the connection between distressing events and how we choose to feel and process these events. In so doing, negative belief systems are transcended and you can better cope with distressing events. Results can be seen in as little as twelve weeks.

Psychodynamic

Psychodynamic therapy is rooted in Freudian principles where focus is placed on uncovering, making sense of, and resolving past conflicts to alleviate psychological distress. It emphasises the influence of life experiences, especially early life experiences on your current desires and behaviours. By working together we will gain insights and attempt to rationalise the past and break free of the bonds of previous traumas. Psychodynamic therapy aims to enhance self-awareness, improve interpersonal relationships and relieve oneself of emotional difficulties.

EMDR

EMDR is a specialised psychotherapeutic approach primarily used to treat trauma-related disorders such as PTSD. It involves using auditory, tactile and eye movements to facilitate the reprocessing of distressing and traumatic memories. This therapy can be used to treat multiple traumas by way of processing them in a better way.
